When I began writing the Weight of the Crown series, I knew one truth would anchor every story: love is the legacy that endures beyond time and title.
Across each book—from the first tides of duty to the last voyage home—this series has always been about more than crowns or kingdoms. It is a story of family, partnership, and unity: how love can steady us in life’s fiercest storms and remind us who we are when the world begins to change.
When writing, I found Hawaii’s beauty inseparable from the story’s themes. The ocean becomes a mirror of love—sometimes calm and steady, other times storm-tossed yet always resilient. The islands themselves embody heritage, healing, and community. Through the Ocean School, the royal gardens, and the traditions that span generations, Hawaii reminds the characters—and us, as readers—of our shared responsibility to care for the land and for one another.
For me, Hawaii symbolizes the strength that comes from harmony. The blending of land and sea, tradition and progress creates a lesson for us all: our differences don’t divide us—they enrich us when held together in love and respect.
Hawaii is more than a setting in these stories—it is a living spirit that breathes through every page, guiding Colton, Elijah, Kai, and Leila through their journey. The rhythm of the tides, the whisper of the mountains, and the scent of plumeria become part of their legacy, echoing the truth that every legacy worth building begins with love.
Whenever you open a book from this series, I hope you’ll feel the spirit of aloha woven through each chapter—grounding every triumph and every tear in the timeless truths of family, unity, and hope.
